Whipped Butter

Sometimes it’s nice to take a break during your spring cleaning spree (unless, like us, you’ve been procrastinating - no judgment here), and what better way to chill than trying your hand at one of our DIY recipes! Except this time, you’re in for double trouble. We’ve compiled two different ways to make whipped butter, to offer you some flexibility and technique in mastering the art of making. Each of these recipes are fully customizable, as the first two ingredients act as a “base” for any kind of essential oil magic you want to whip up. These make great body moisturizers with their creamy, fluffy texture!

 

Technique #1: Softened Butter

 

Supplies:

Hand Mixer

Mixing Bowl

Jar or other container

Ingredients:

1 cup Yellow Shea Butter

1/4 cup Coconut Oil

10-20 drops Essential Oils (optional)

Directions

Step One

Add shea butter and coconut oil to bowl. Coconut oil should be room temperature, not liquid.

Combine using a hand mixer. It may be slow-going, but soon you’ll see the butter and oil incorporate into each other and create a smooth, fluffy texture! Add essential oils while mixing.

Scoop out into resealable container and store at room temperature and out of sunlight to prevent melting.

 

Technique #2: Melted Butter

Supplies:

Mixing Bowl

Small Saucepan

Hand Mixer

Jar or other container

Ingredients:

1 cup Cocoa Butter

2 tablespoons Castor Oil

10-20 drops Essential Oils (optional)

 

Directions

Step One

Melt cocoa butter on low heat in saucepan, stirring occasionally to break up clumps.

Mix in castor oil, then remove from heat and refrigerate in mixing bowl for one hour.

Step Three

Take out mixture and place bowl over ice, then mix with a hand mixer until nice and fluffy. Add your choice of essential oils.
